Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #491 ~ Whitman, October 1981. 50¢ cover price. Saddle stitched comic book with four-color cover and interior. This comic book is from a scarce era for Whitman imprints. Unlike most superhero comics of the 1980s, Whitman comics were sold on the traditional market (no comic book stores) mostly to kids who actually read them. So, they tend to be particularly scarce in higher grades and uncommon in any grade.
Moderate wear: very good. As always, grading of comics is subjective so check out my scan and be sure this copy would have a home in your collection before bidding or buying.
Although comic book grading is still somewhat subjective, you can expect that the grade I assign to a comic will be accurate. I find that I'm more strict a grader than most people dealing on eBay. I've been dabbling in collectible comics since the late-1960s and participated in the WSA program (#1305) which provided a code of ethics for comics dealers. I've contributed material to the Overstreet Price Guide and published articles in a variety of comic book related periodicals including Comic Book Marketplace, Comic Source, Golden Age Greats, Best of the West, and others.
