3rd Spearhead & 30th Armored Division patches ~ Both patches are like new and unissued. The 3rd Armored Division patch is from the Desert Storm era. On 17 January 1992 in Germany, the division ceased operations; in October 1992 it was formally deactivated as part of a general drawing down of forces at the end of the Cold War. The 30th Armored Division patch is much older, perhaps from the 1950s. Though never federalized during wartime, the 30th Armored Division (called Volunteers, for Tennessee's Volunteer State nickname) was activated for support to law enforcement, including responses to civil disturbances in Memphis and Nashville after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The division existed from 1954 to 1973.
