Product Details

Sue Carol ~ This lot is an original 1930s vintage card from the Goldfilm series of cigarettes cards. Card is #166. The card is slightly larger than a traditional US/British cigarette card (just over 1.5" x 2.3"). The example offered here is in excellent condition with light wear, see my scan.

Sue Carol was born Evelyn Lederer on October 30, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois. She was 20 years old when she entered film work. Her first role was a bit part in Soft Cushions in 1927. Directors liked the way she took instruction and gave her a more substantial part later that year in Slaves of Beauty. While she didn't land the roles her contemporaries did, Sue was a competent actress. Other highlights include Girls Gone Wild (1929), The Lone Star Ranger (1930), and Secret Sinners (1933). She was married to Alan Ladd from 1942 until his death in 1964. Sue died in Los Angeles, California on February 4, 1982. She was 74.
