Stony Iron meteorite harvested from the Moroccan desert in the mid-2010s. Stony-iron meteorites, or siderolites, are meteorites that consist of nearly equal parts of meteoric iron and silicates. This distinguishes them from the stony meteorites, that are mostly silicates, and the iron meteorites, that are mostly meteoric iron. They usually break apart during fall or on impact. Thus, samples are generally partial, not whole, meteorites.
This particular example has one flat polished side. I'm not sure why this was done unless it was to make it stand flat for display or to remove it from a larger specimen.
