F.A. Cup Final 1952-1953, Blackpool Celebrates Victory ~ Here's a nice large stamp that commemorates the Blackpool victory in the 1953 Football Association (Soccer) Cup Final. In case you need telling, that's Stanley Matthews on the right and his performance in Blackpool's 4-3 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the cup match was inspirational! Sir Stan was simply the best footballer who ever played the game. This £2 mint stamp is a local post from Easdale and is part of the Great Sporting Events series. Easdale is a tiny island in the Firth of Lorn just off the Scottish mainland. The idea of Easdale being a legitimate philatelic entity is pretty much laughable but this is still a cool stamp! The odd pattern is from my scanner and does not exist on the stamp. This graphic is larger than actual size.
