After an absence of 20 years, James Van Hise rebooted his classic fanzine. It captured perfectly the spirit of the issues from the 1960s to the 1980s. We got a wholesale deal on this issue from Jim and are pleased to be able to offer it at the original 2003 cover price!
Full color front cover by Mark Schultz of Conan the Barbarian. The back cover is a previously unpublished science fiction painting by Al Feldstein in the EC tradition (but it is not an EC cover recreation). Articles include a 25,000 word overview on the "Steve Ditko Spiderman," an article on Reed Crandall's 1940s super hero art for Quality Comics. An interview with Mark Schultz (including lots of art from Xenozoic and some B&W art from Conan). An article by Gary Brown on fandom in the 1970s including a rare photo of Frankenstein artist Dick Briefer. The 8 page comic strip "The Monster Maker" written by James Van Hise and drawn by Tom Sutton. A preview of a forthcoming graphic novel featuring a weird 1930s pulp hero, and more.
