Product Details

Harry Hardt ~ This card #41 from the Bunte Filmbilder cigarette card series. It is a vintage 1936 original. The gilt edges show minor wear and there is a crease to the bottom right corner. Remember magnified defects tend to look worse than they really are: VG. The card is about the size of a British or American cigarette card (about 1¼"x2¼").

Harry Hardt intended to make the military his career until Germany and Austria lost WWI. After training in Graz and Berlin, Hardt appeared first on the stage and then in silent films as a supporting actor beginning in 1920. He came to the attention of German superstar Hans Albers while playing Billy, one of the thugs, in The man who was Sherlock Holmes (1937). He suffered the usual five or so years of blacklisting after WWII. In all, Hardt starred in about 180 films, in addition to numerous television productions.
