
Hans Holt ~ This is a large format cigarette card from 1937, published as part of the Bunte Filmbilder series two. It is card #491. Size: just over 2¼" x 2¾" (slightly smaller that a US baseball card). The edges are gilt and showing light wear. Overall the condition is very fine.

Hans Holt was born on November 22, 1909 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, as Karl Johann Hödl. The epitome of Viennese charm, urbane Hans Holt was the son of a master glazier. He trained for acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and spent several years honing his craft at local and provincial theaters. He began on screen in 1936 and quickly established himself as a popular leading man of romances and musical comedies (he also sang), often paired with Paula Wessely or Maria Holst. He was an actor and writer, known for Wen die Götter lieben (1942), The Trapp Family (1956) and The Mozart Story (1948). He was married to Renate Bremer. He died on August 3, 2001 in Baden, Austria.
