Angelo Ferrari ~ This card #353 from the Bunte Filmbilder cigarette card series. It is a vintage 1937 original. The edges show minor wear but it is still a nice example: VF. The card is larger than a British or American cigarette card (over 2¼"x2¾").
Born in Italy in 1897, Angelo Ferrari started his career in Italian silent films in 1916 and eventually moved to leading roles such as Satyavan in the Indian/Italian co-production of Savitri Satyavan in 1923. His success led him to Germany in the mid-1920 where he starred opposite Marlene Dietrich in Heads Up, Charley (1927). The German film industry was second only to Hollywood in the interwar years. Ferrari went on to make dozens of films in Germany all through the Nazi era and suffered the same postwar blacklisting as many German actors, returning to film only four times in 1948-1949. He died in 1954.
