Lucie Englisch ~ This card is from the 1933 Goldfilm series. It measures over 1½"x2¼" and has a great photo of Lucie Englisch! This is an original cigarette card issued as #57 of the series. Given that it is over 70 years old it is in excellent condition. Please study my scan!

Born Paula Aloisia Englisch in Austria in 1902 (other reports of her birth vary between 1887 and 1906), Lucie Englisch appeared in about 140 films between 1929 and 1963 opposite some of Germany's most popular leading men including Hans Albers and Willy Fritsch. Most of her vehicles were light drama or musical comedy both of which were in vogue during the Weimar and Nazi eras in Germany. Despite the typical post-war blacklisting, Englisch returned to the German screen even making the transition to television.
