Werner Fuetterer ~ This is a cigarette card from the Goldfilm cigarette card series. It was published in about 1934. It is card #48. Size: just over 1½" x 2¼" (a little larger than a typical US or British cigarette card). Card is a bit more worn than those that I typically sell but the portrait of Fuetterer is just excellent.

Werner Fuetterer was, oddly enough, a German silent film icon who grew up in Guatemala and started his film career in Sweden. A dashing leading man, Fuetterer became a popular silent film actor of the twenties. He transitioned to the sound era and worked pretty steadily through the end of the Nazi era at which time he suffered the typical three years blacklisting. He served many years as chairman of the now defunct Vorsitzender des inzwischen aufgelösten Verbandes deutscher Filmdarsteller (Association of German Film Actors).
