Product Details

Alphons Fryland ~ This is a cigarette card from the Goldfilm cigarette card series. It was published in about 1934. It is card #98. Size: just over 1½" x 2¼" (a little larger than a typical US or British cigarette card). Very light wear. Overall the condition is very fine.

Alphons Fryland was an Austrian born star of the German silent screen who made over 40 films between 1919 and 1933. He was quite popular at his height. In 1932 he joined the NSDAP but it helped his career little. He claimed to have been discriminated against by the Jewish producer Alfred Zeisler. Eventually he returned to Graz and worked as a clerk in the Gau office.
